If you want to learn from recent history, look no further than sweden. The left started the smear campaign that the sweden democrats are nazis.
The result?
10-15 years later they are now the second biggest party in the country.
Lessons learned: If you try to avoid discussing facts, ideas and how to shapre society, and instead just base your politics on trying to smear the opposition as a nazi, you will eventually lose.
