I got a new iPhone on Wednesday. My old iPhone 8 really needed
replacing after more than 6 years. So I got myself a new iPhone 16.

And after getting the phone set up with the ease provided by the
facility built in to iOS (while I had lunch), my battery was at 100%
at about 2pm on Wednesday. I used it all the rest of the day, and all
of Thursday until I went to bed and the phone was still at 34% when I
went to bed at 12:30am.

So I'm curious how "inferior" my new iPhone's really is.

It's 11:44am on Friday, and I've just unplugged my iPhone from the
charging cable.

I'll report back what the percentage is at 11:44am tomorrow, and I'll
report again when the iPhone demands that it be plugged in.

This is to be expected. My iPhone 14 was pretty much the same as yours
when new. Two years later the battery capacity is at 85% and the loss
of stamina is noticeable.
And normal usage differs between people. For some it may be hours of
online games or social nedia sites with videos. For others it may be
just checking text messages and a few phone calls. Then there is the
issue of being connected to WiFi or having a crappy cell signal. All
these factors affect the battery usage significantly.
