Chris wrote on Sun, 19 May 2024 10:58:17 -0000 (UTC) :

I'm logical. I based my assessments on documented facts.

Only cherry-picked facts. That's lying by omission. Plus many things you
claim to be facts are actually opinions.

It's not me, but you who gets confused by facts versus assessments of them.
I know the difference between facts and an assessment based on those facts.

For example, an assessment of the facts is that the iPhone enjoys the worst
hotfix support in the industry - which is based on a lot of facts - one of
which is that Apple fully supports only a single release at a time - while
every other operating system vendor simultaneously supports multiple OS's.

Nobody but Apple only fully support a single release, Chris.
That's a fact.

The problem with you religious zealots is you don't know any of the facts.
So you think all the assessments of those myriad facts are wrong.

Which is why I say the things I do about you Apple religious zealots.

In fact, I did respond when you said Apple supports multiple releases.
I said that is a lie.

That's not the point of what I was saying in this thread and provided
evidence of: Apple has historically supported iphones far, far longer than
either Samsung or Google.

I never disagreed that Apple has never fully supported more than one
release Chris - it's *you* who disagreed with what even Apple has admitted.

*Apple has _never_ fully supported more than one release at a time*

That's just a fact.

Let me repeat for your benefit as you cowardly snipped it before:
https://endoflife.date/iphone Oldest models still supported: 6s/6s Plus
Released: Sep 2015
No. major updates: 6

If I need to repeat that *the iPhone 6 is NOT fully supported by Apple*,
then it's you who doesn't comprehend Apple has never fully supported more
than one release Chris - and the iPhone 6 is not fully supported by Apple.

If you can't comprehend that fact - then it's true everything I say about
you since you're supposed to have a PhD, Chris... in the sciences.

Here's an assessment of the fact you stated you had a PhD in the sciences.

ASSESSMENT:
If you can't comprehend that simply fact, you couldn't even pass science
classes in High School, let alone in college, and let alone in grad school.

That's just an assessment of the fact you said you had a PhD.

https://endoflife.date/samsung-mobile Oldest models still supported: Galaxy
A01/A51* Released: Dec 2018
No. major updates: ?

* S20 models (from 2020) are no longer supported

https://endoflife.date/pixel Oldest models still supported: Pixel 5a
Released: Aug 2021
No. major updates: 3

My free Galaxy A32-5G was released 22 January 2021 (three years ago) & I
just checked the settings which says "Security patch level: March 1, 2024".

So it has been fully supported for three years so far, and the more modern
recent Androids from Samsung & Google are updated fully for seven years.

Also remember all the apps are fully supported over the automatic Google
Play Store update mechanism for most phones, and in my case, they're auto
updated using the clone of the open source Google Play Store that I use.

In addition, over twenty five core Google modules are constantly updated
completely seamlessly over the Google Play System update mechanism
(formerly named Project Mainline) which I gave you proof of many times.

Do you even realize billions of Android phones from Android 4.4 and up are
updated every month over that mechanism, Chris? You probably do not.

Which is why I say what I say about you Apple religious zealots.
a. You know nothing about how iOS updates, and,
b. You know even less about how Android updates... but worse...
c. You feel qualified to lie about your feelings iOS updates 'betterly.

Apple always has more than 1.5 times the exploits that Android has.

It was "10 times more" only a couple of days ago.
You got caught lying yet again.

Actually that's a longer story than you're capable of comprehending,
even with that PhD in the medical sciences that you claim to own.

I calculated once, when I first notified the Apple group of that site, that
it's over ten times more because there are exploits in Safari & WebKit, for
example, which are reported separately (as Jolly Roger himself found out).

They affect both of Apple's main operating systems, Chris.
But they're included in that CISA report separately.

So, in reality, the number of exploits in iOS is actually ten times
larger, but I don't want to run those tedious calculations again.

So I'll accept that it's not only 1.64 times what Android has, but the main
point is it is *always more* than what Android has - and that's what
matters most.

Do you religious zealots every wonder why Apple never tells you this?

Currently Windows 10 and Windows 11 are fully supported (AFAIK).
1. That means all known Microsoft-caused bugs in Win10 are patched.
2. That means all known Microsoft-caused bugs in Win11 are patched.
3. Often they're the same bugs and the same patch - but not always.

And you know that how? Where's the evidence that every MS known bug is
fixed in Win11 and Win 10?

Now you're just grasping at straws.

Microsoft says they fix every known bug in both releases, one of which was
released in July 29, 2015 and even then, it was a free upgrade of Windows
Vista, which came out in January 30, 2007 (which was on my desktop which I
built in 2009).

So from 2007 to today, Microsoft has been fixing all the known bugs in the
release which is 17 years, Chris.

How long has Apple been fixing the bugs in the latest macOS release Chris?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacOS_version_history

They were replaced roughly about every two years, as I recall.
They even replaced my keyboard and mouse and monitors as frequently.

Thanks for confirming that the arsetechnica article is based on a false
premise: no corporation would keep supporting five-year old hardware
regardless of whether MS/Apple does.

The fact is that Apple only fully supports a single release, Chris.
The fact is no other consumer OS vendor supports only one release.

The assessment is that *Apple's support is the worst in the industry*,
but I base that assessment on far more than those two facts above.

What do you base your assessment of Apple's support on Chris?
Don't answer - I already know.

Apple advertisements.

HINT: Apple isn't going to tell you their support is the worst.

Hell... they're not even telling you they forgot to delete your
photos and only figured that out in the latest OS upgrade Chris.
