 Yes. They have a second UK eSIM.

 That's the problem. I don't know what to look for. My contacts settings
look fine and I can contact others. Their SIMs look fine and also contact
others.

... then as stated in my other post, try the Message log out/in and re-start the phones routine.  Many mysteries solved that way.
