If you are a Charter/Spectrum customer and cannot send emails right now,
just give it time. Don't do what I did and remove and reinstall. It is
not a problem on your end or the Iphone. They have a system wide issue
going on right now and are trying to fix it.
It would be nice if when something like this happens they send out a
text or email to their customers so you don't waste time doing what I did.
ARRRGGGHHHHHH!!
Where did you see that outage message? I don't see it in https://www.dslreports.com/forum/charter and https://community.spectrum.net/categories/email-22.
I called in to confirm the issue after my wife told me she was having problems with her system sending email. It's a weird kind of issue. I have had the same things happen for years occasionally with my iphone. Never has happened with my two desktops or my laptop. It now effects her laptop and my phone in our household.
Something is screwy in their SMTP server methinks. It somehow gets it's database corrupted and does not recognize user and passwords correctly. It still won't work this morning on the iphone. That's kind of ridiculous if you ask me.
It is intermittent, it is random, and it is a system wide issue evidently. I can see why they are not quick to say they have a problem, hoping they can just figure it out. Evidently, support now is you wait for someone to call in with the problem, and then tell them that yes there is a problem...we're working on it!
The reason I posted here was because I was not sure if removing the mail account on an iPhone results in losing all the notes, or anything else. I did not want to lose mine and put them in a different location when I R&R'd a few days ago, but someone might forget to do that and lose theirs. It's easy enough to remove and replace, and that is the typical help you'd find if you search on the issue.
I hate to do this, but if it isn't fixed soon, I will try and change the password. Of course, if it is their username database that is corrupted it won't matter. If it has never affected you, count yourself lucky.
