The BBC have reported several issues with wildly wrong AI-generated news
summaries over the last few weeks. Apple has now said that the Apple
Intelligence features are in "beta" and will be "clarified" in a future
update.

Is AppInt going to be a massive white elephant? At the moment it's
certainly discouraging me from upgrading my phone rather than the other way
around.
Why?
You can opt out of using it if you prefer.
There's no point in upgrading if you disable all the new bits. Will keep
watching to see how Apple "mature" the tech.
Opting out of Apple Intelligence isn't "disabling all the new bits".
I can see why it wouldn't ENcourage you to upgrade your phone, but if
you don't want to use it, it should be NEUTRAL to you.
Choose to upgrade as if it didn't exist.
Or stay off the new phone every year treadmill.
My sole interaction with ChatGPT over a book I was reading was amusingly
mixed in results. Some of the obligatory AI summaries in Google search
results are ok, but not even up to Wikipedia level reliability. My
favorites are AI rendered results on images in Canva. That’s where the
wheels start coming off the bus. As for AI images ratdickgate takes the
cake.

The real problem is that so many people are trusting this over-hyped AI garbage for important things, such as medical diagnosis. Thanks to the useless nature of AI and its easily made horible mistakes, there will be LOTS of people going undiagnosed and LOTS of people being misdiagnosed. X-( Some of these places claim they have real people checking the AI results, so what's the point of bothering with the useless AI in the first place?!
Like "smart" technology that never worked properly either, AI is just another pointless fad used to make money by the greedy tech giants and startups.
