To my
surprise the app was no longer there. Now I wish I could at least reload
the deleted one, if there was a way. Is there?

If the app is no longer in the App store, there is probably a good
reason for that - like that it is obsolete. That's probably why you
think it is corrupt. I would contact the bank and ask them why the
app is unavailable and if it has been replaced by something new. I
wouldn't waste any time trying to resurrect an app that is no longer
available.
I did, or rather I tried, but all I got some AI service rep who just
tried to send me to a human rep, who then wanted to start the questions
all over again. Those damn keys are too small for my fingers and I was
in no mood to start it all over again. So I told the rep to red the
thread before I start answering. Then she just disappeared on me.
Next time I will try to get some live rep on the phone.

You could also just go to the App Store and do a search on the bank name
and see if you can find another app for that bank. Also - go to the
bank's website and see if you cab find a link for a mobile app or maybe
search on the webpage for "mobile app" or something similar.
The problem appears to be caused by the way Apple ties every app to your
unique Apple ID when nobody else would do something that sneaky but Apple.
