Apple withdrew their advertising on X because everyone else was doing
it and they had to follow suit or be ridiculed and boycotted.  Just
like any politician or conglomerate, they wet their finger and hold it
up to see which way the wind is blowing.  They are doing the same now.

 
Yep. Same with Disney and the silly Politically Correct warnings they
put in front of their old movies, and are now removing again.
 
It's one of the biggest problems with Tim Cook - he keeps using his
position at Apple to publicise his own political beliefs. Businesses
must be neutral and  stay out of politics, and the management shouldn't
drag the business into their personal opinions.
