Because it suggests a new paradigm for the product, Arlen.
If you call it the "SE" you create a separation from the current flagship model.
Once you call it the "iPhone ##e" where "##" is the most current model number, the expectation is that a new "e" model will come out every time the "##" changes.
When you have a selection of different cars with one main model name, do you expect that when the bring out the next generation of that named model, the most basic level for that model won't be updated too?
How dim are you?
