Hello everyone,
I am writing on behalf of Roberto Corrado regarding the issue of the
"checkgroups" message sent for the free.it.ai.general group. Roberto
contacted me, deeply mortified about the mistake he made, and asked for my
help in extending his apologies to the Usenet community.
Roberto acknowledges that he erred by sending an inappropriate control
message in an unadministered hierarchy like free.*. He has assured me that
he understands the mistake and had no intention of causing harm; his
actions were in good faith, but he was unaware of the technical
implications of the "checkgroups" message. He commits to never sending
inappropriate control messages again and wishes to sincerely apologize to
everyone for the inconvenience caused.
I ask the community to accept his apologies and to view this incident as an
honest mistake by someone who is learning the rules of Usenet. Roberto is
willing to make amends in the proper way, such as proposing the
free.it.ai.general group with a "newgroup" message, if deemed appropriate.
Thank you for your attention and understanding.
no such thing as bad publicity . . . nearly 3500 newsgroups (44 moderated,
3454 unmoderated) in the free.* hierarchy (could be more, quoting mixmin):
free.153fish
free.aaroncity
free.abstinence
free.activism.walmart
free.adjective-army
free.advice
<snipped for brevity>
free.your-mind
free.ystbybtatr
free.z.r.t
free.za
free.za.za
free.za.za.za
i really don't know enough about usenet hierarchies to know whether these
recent checkgroups "apology" articles were intended to be taken seriously,
but in view of the "artificial intelligence"/"ai.*" mania, maybe it isn't?
