Upon thus reporting an umpteenth spam email, I recevied a
message from the affected internet provider:

The complaint in question was forwarded to the client.  We
gave him time to fix the problem, otherwise we will block
the server!  Thank you for your cooperation.

Some of them pay heed, after all.
