You said I am complicit in racism and antisemitism, which is your view.
In France you would be. I'm not trying to impose french laws, but there it
is the contrary, even if fr.* is not french but french-speaking 99% of the
posters are French. We don't have the first amendment, we have different
laws.
It's not the medium (i.e. the operators of the Usenet servers) which
are liable for illegal speak, but the poster(s).
If things are as you claim, there would be no 'social media' in
France, because on such media such speak is - sadly enough - all too
common.
For the "nazi" part, maybe it was excessive, I don't know, the only
thing I knew of you before is that you made an excellent tool to search
NoCems.
No "maybe" about it. You owe him an apology, plain and simple.
Maybe you think you have a kind of mission for free speech, but
this is not free speech, this is mainly insults and threats and incoherent
posts.
"insults" - i.e. like *your* "NAZI", repeated umpteen times - are
speech, which may or may not have consequences. I don't consider "NAZI"
to be free speech, but won't get a fit about something like "moron". It
all depends.
Most "threats" are probably not free speech, but most of them are
probably not actionable (by law enforcement).
And if we're going to ban "incoherent posts", we might as well shut
down Usenet (and the world at large, for that matter).
I replied that I do not decide what is abuse based on my personal
viewpoints on subjects.
In France this is a crime, we have a platform to file complaints about it
(Pharos).
See above. It's very unlikely to be actionable (by law enforcement).
But by all means, file complaints with the French platform, just don't
bother us with it.
In this article: <c05a38415282b111f37be57025c6f91f@www.novabbs.org> in
this thread, I mention how you might filter these, and how i2pn2
provides the headers to do so.
There are still people replying to him so it's not of great help, I'm
afraid. I haven't read him for a long time but it changes nothing.
A good newsreader should be able to filter posters and responses to
those posters.
So as I said before, put your energy into *that* - client-side
filtering -, instead of trying to get others to fight your self-chosen
'battles'.
news.software.readers is the group for questions/discussions on
newsreaders, but you'll have to change your tune and attitude if you
want a positive outcome from posting there.
