I am performing a review of the free NNTP server list located
at https://sybershock.com/#usenet. I have re-formatted the list and
provided it in this article. Please review this NNTP server listing
for errors or omissions.
This is a list of free providers of NNTP server access. If you know
of any that should be added to the list please post a correction or
addition in this thread.
### General Usenet Servers (BIG8 & alt.* hierarchies)
freenews.netfront.net
(I do not know if you can post here)
(is this one Hongkong based?)
This has been suggested to me in the past. I find no information about
a free Usenet server there, and I'm not investigating any further. If
anyone has a link to a page that shows registration for POST access
I'll look but I am not hunting around for anything.
news.neodome.net
(read-only, except for a few neodome.* newsgroups)
Neodome once had reader POST access. Since they cancelled reader posting
there is no use advertising them. The remailer users already know about
neodome and there is no point listing them since they don't offer
anything unique.
I could maintain a bottom section for read-only access, but then that
would open up the gates for listing a bunch of old, useless read-only
servers, which I don't want to spend time tracking and testing because
there is no benefit to anyone.

Seperate usenet server
news.grc.com
(no peering, own newsgroups)
https://www.grc.com/nntpquickref.htm
grc.* newsgroups are also readable at:
https://www.grc.com/discussions.htm
(GRC = Gibson Research Corporation, owned by Steve Gibson)
Added to the list. Steve Gibson has one of the longest-running tech
podcasts. Thanks for reminding me of this old gem.
