Yes, that works now.  I had been trying https://www.novabbs.com
which still seems to be flaky. 

 
The web portal seems to be overloaded at times. I got several
"Gateway timed out", "Message server not available" and
authentication failures. One time, I was able to see the "There are
currently 851 users online" message, which is most likely more than
the server memory can accomodate. 

 
I assume those are crawlers.
An they consume much more resources that normal users.

certainly brazen (textbook ad copy from troll farm's vast arsenal)
attack . . . seems particularly cavalier in this nntp server-savvy
group . . . possibly a rogue agent with some personal axe to grind
