It's an okay, light-hearted, series, but there are so mny of
these amateur detectives "help" (i.e they solve the crimes)
Yeap. "Father Brown" and "Sister Boniface Mysteries" for
starters!!
Hmm!! Are these two shows just an effort to portray the Roman
Catholic Church as a bunch of busy-bodies?? Oh!! No!! Wait!
"Grantchester" is a CoE based Cop-show!!
Then there's: - The Madame Blanc Mysteries
Pommies moving on to France Riviera in Retirement.
Nope. The British antiques expert / seller comes to the small French
village when her husband was murdered there, and after that mystery
was solved she decided to stay. There are a few other ex-pat British
people already living there, but none are retired.
Oh!! I must have missed that Eps. I thought her Partner was still there.

- The Marlow Murder Club
 ??
Small UK village of Marlow where a retired archaeologist, a vicar's wife, and a dog walker come together to solve murders, which grudging
approval of the police they are helping. Based on a series of
books.
Oh. Hang on, I might have seen one or two of them!
- Queens of Mystery
 ??
A young female police detective moves back to her home town and is unofficially  helped by her three aunts to solve mystery crimes.
There is also an on-going mystery surrounding her parents.
Nope!

- The Good Ship Murder
 ??
Ex-police detective turned cruise line entertainer solves mysteries involving the ship's guests (on and off the boat) around the Mediterranean, with the help of the ship's second in command.
Police Detective turned Cruise entertainer .... Yeah!! I can see that
happening!! .... NOT!!

- Moonflower Murders
 ??
A series of books that is being made into a trilogy of mini-series. First one was "Magpie Murders", the second "Moonflower Murders", and
the up-coming third one is yet to get an official name. A book editor
solves crimes with the help of the fictional detective from her
edited books (she sees and talks to him).
Nope!!

- Agatha Raisin
 Like it.

- Ludwig
Seen a couple .. but missed the first Ep so don't know the
"back-story".
A police detective goes missing and his twin brother (a newspaper crossword setter) comes in to help the detective's wife find out what
happened, which he does by pretending to be his brother to go into
the police station and ends up having to solve other crimes while
looking for clues about his brother.
So in the First Ep, did "we" see what happened to the Real Detective?? I
missed it.

and the professional / semi-professional private detectives
helping police: - Harry Wild
 Good

- Whitstable Pearl
 Good
The son in Whistable Pearl is played by the same actor who plays
Harry Wild's sidekick, so it can get a bit confusing if you watch
both shows close toegether and aren't concetrating.
Thank You!! Thank You! Thank You. I thought I might have been going
crazy .... or was I just confusing myself .... but I thought he HAD been
in the other series!!

- Professor T
 ??
Basically a bit of a knock-off of the US series "Monk". A university
crime professor with obsessive compulsive disorder helps the police
to solve crimes,
Never seen either series.

while also trying to cope with his over-protective mother and the
'suicide' of his father that he witnessed as a child. The series has
been remade by a few European countries, the latest being the British
version starring Ben Miller (who was one of the Death in Paradise
detectives).
Wasn't he the First Detective .... or just the First I saw??

- Shakespeare & Hathaway
 Good.

Plus of course all the proper police ones.
I may have mentioned before that I do a bit of Volunteering at the
local Salvation Army thrift Shop .... to which someone donated 59
of the 68 old "Midsomer Murders" TV series DVDs
(Bugger!! I original spelt that 'Midsommer' but the went to IMDB
and they have it as "Midsomer" so I changed it .... then hit 'Send'
and my Spell-checker offered "Midsommer" .... so I don't know!!!
;-) )
One 'm' in the middle: Midsomer. Some silly auto-correct 'features'
will change it to "midsummer" instead.

I might have brought them ..... cept I've seen them over and over
and ...

And those are just off the top of my head. There are plenty more,
 even not counting non-UK ones.
Yeap, like "Homicide - Life on the Streets" which is being
repeated, three or four Eps in a row, of a Thursday evening.
I haven't seen "Hill Street Blues" this century, I think, but
wouldn't mind if it got repeated!!

She has plaued *lots* of roles and is married to Sanjeev
Bhaskar (the male detective in the "Unforgotten" series
Good Series .... and he plays his part very well .... thinking
HE should be the Boss of the squad .... but "The System" keeps
posting in other DCI's!!
He did get promoted from Detective Sergeant to Detective
Inspector at some point. He didn't want to be the boss - he was
offered another promotion after DCI Cassie Stuart died, but he
turned it down because he didn't think he was in the right frame
of mind after her death.
.... and, somewhere along the line, he's seperated from his T.V.
wife .... and is now trying to set himself up with a Nurse.
Possible spoilers, depending on what season's you have watched ...
 He got divorced.
Was that about the time of the First DI (whom I liked a lot) getting
killed in a Car Accident??
I think his and his wifes relationship was a bit "IFFY" but I don't
recall them getting Divorced.

Then the was with Sal (I can't remember if she was a nurse or not nor
if she was the reason for his divorce),
No, he's only just met her (the Nurse) ... then she broke the relationship off or just became 'Cool' towards him .... and now he seems to be trying to mend bridges.

who became pregnant, they got engaged, then she lost the baby, and
they split up. In the new season he's starting a relationship with
the police pathologist Leanne.
Ah!! So at least a couple of seasons to go for me. ;-)
