What surprises me is that if 1975, why so many missing
episodes?
None of the Tom Bakers are missing . The missing episodes
are from the first 3 doctors of the 60's, and were caused by
the practice at the time of after the broadcast the tapes
they were recorded on were reused for other shows to save
money. So the original recordings were lost.
ME
by the 1980s all Pertwee was recovered.
THAT was a great result!
Imagine if those 3rd Doctor episodes had stayed missing and
people were deprived of seeing the dashing Mr Pertwee in
action.<shiver> ... That doesn't bear thinking about.
