Grrr is a word, no vowel. As is Psst, no vowel... Brrr,
etc...
Yeap!>:-)>
No, they are NOT words .... they are Vocalisations ..... and
the above are attempted written representations of the
sounds/vocalisations!!
If they are in the OED
Yep, they are definitely words.Nope, VOCALISATIONS!! SOUNDS!!
If you want to get really pedantic, then "every word must have a vowel" is wrong since there are quite a few non-English words that do not have vowels. For example, in Croation there is "prst" (finger), "krv" (blood), "trg" (square), "smrt" (death), etc. :-)Maybe in *Croatian* , they have a different *Golden Rule* !! .... Maybe, in Croatian (possibly one of my G-G-Grandfathers native languages, although I think he might have fled (Russia/Urals) to get to Croatia!!) the *Golden Rule* is "Every word MUST have a 'R'"
Thank you. ;-P "color" ... Wrong or lazy!! ;-Pand I can use them in Scrabble then they are words!I wouldn't go that far. Scrabble allows many things that are not real English words. For a start it allows "color" which is just wrong. :-p
