Amy and Rory because for some tenuous reason he couldn't visit NY at the
particular time they'd been sent to didn't really hold weather. He could
visit some earlier time or different place and arrange for a message to
be sent to them, telling them to take a train to, say, Chicago, where
he'd be able to pick them up.

 Agreed, there had to be some workarounds. At least they could have brought
some up and explained why they wouldn’t work.
 

What's stopping some other time traveller like River Song from going there and bringing them back. Nothing! Steven Moffat is a retard if he expects us to believe this nonsense because he's too lazy to write a coherent story.
Is there a single companion that these degenerates haven't had suffer a terrible fate as a result of being with the Doctor? Rose trapped in another dimension, Donna having her memory erased and giving birth to a mentally handicapped son, Amy and Rory trapped in the past, Clara dead, Bill dead, River Song dead. That just leaves Martha and Captain Jack.
