Radio Times article re the change of release time for "Doctor
Who" episodes on the BBC iPlayer for the forthcoming
season...

Not sure how that supposedly "prioritises UK fans" ... seems
more of a publicity stunt since UK fans are the only ones who
can legally access iPlayer anyway.
They iPlayer and Disney+ episode release times are simultaneous.
So before, the USA & Canada got new Doctor Who episodes on the
Friday afternoon on Disney+, and the UK viewers had to stay up
until midnight or 1am on the Saturday morning to watch the
episodes on the BBC iPlayer.
Ah, that makes more sense.

Now, it's the North American viewers that have to wait until the
early hours of Saturday morning to watch the new episodes on
Disney+ and people in the UK can watch them from 8am on the
iPlayer.
A small difference but they seem to thing it's important... I'm
not sure the midnight iPlayer viewings were getting many viewers
beyond a few hardcore fans anyway. I tried it for the first few
episodes but gave up and just watched them when I got up or in
the afternoon.
Makes you wonder why they don't simply release it on iPlayer at the same time the episode is broadcast on normal TV.
Here in New Zealand some of the free-to-air networks have "exclusive" shows on their streaming service first and then a few weeks or months later they often appear on regular broadcast TV. Of course, people who watched it via streaming probably won't watch it again on broadcast TV, so the blinkered morons in management will claim that broadcast TV doesn't get as many viewers as streaming, and eventually they'll just shut down the broadcast channels.   :-(
