Never did work that out .... Why destroy The Universe .... The
Universe in which YOU live??

 That wasn't what the bomb was for per se...it was to destroy all
non-Dalek life in every universe and dimension except those
within the Crucible... so the Daleks would be left as the sole
race in existence.
 Like a lot of Dalek plans over the years it doesn't really make
a lot of sense if you think about it fully.
 

Ah!! So it was a Genetic-thing, with specific bits of Dalek Genetic make-up immune to whatever 'The Reality Bomb' was set up to blow up.
