Currently watching Sean Pertwee

in Agatha Christie's "The Pale Horse"
 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10485750/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_cdt_t_9

 >>> and, (Obj Doctor Who) Sean is a son of Jon Pertwee ....whom IMDB
says "who was mainly a comedy actor and was known for his starring roles in Doctor Who (1963),".
"A Comedy Actor" ..... really?? Who would have thought??
 "1963"?? .... Really??
One of our Commercial stations is/was showing a series called "Mrs
Sidhu Investigates" in which a Woman who is a Caterer by
profession assists the local Police in investigating various
murders.
It's an okay, light-hearted, series, but there are so mny of these amateur detectives "help" (i.e they solve the crimes)
Yeap. "Father Brown" and "Sister Boniface Mysteries" for starters!!
Hmm!! Are these two shows just an effort to portray the Roman Catholic
Church as a bunch of busy-bodies?? Oh!! No!! Wait! "Grantchester" is a
CoE based Cop-show!!
Then there's:
  - The Madame Blanc Mysteries
  - The Marlow Murder Club
  - Queens of Mystery
  - The Good Ship Murder
  - Moonflower Murders
  - Agatha Raisin
  - Ludwig
and the professional / semi-professional private detectives helping police:
  - Harry Wild
  - Whitstable Pearl
  - Professor T
  - Shakespeare & Hathaway
Plus of course all the proper police ones.
And those are just off the top of my head. There are plenty more, even not counting non-UK ones.

the police shows now that it's all becoming too samey. Most of the
time I can solve them before the first ad break.

The Woman who plays Mrs Sidhu,
 Meera Syal.
I thought I had actually mentioned her RL Name AND included a link to
her IMDB Bio ..... but NO!!
 https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0842934/?ref_=fn_all_nme_1

She has plaued *lots* of roles and is married to Sanjeev Bhaskar (the
male detective in the "Unforgotten" series
Good Series .... and he plays his part very well .... thinking HE should
be the Boss of the squad .... but "The System" keeps posting in other DCI's!!
He did get promoted from Detective Sergeant to Detective Inspector at some point. He didn't want to be the boss - he was offered another promotion after DCI Cassie Stuart died, but he turned it down because he didn't think he was in the right frame of mind after her death.

and has been in Doctor Who three times, although two of those were voice-acting roles).

appeared as "Nasreen Chaudhry" in the Eleventh Doctor "Doctor Who"
episode, The Hungry Earth, where some group or other of Scientists
were drilling through Earth's Crust ..... until The Silurians
start abducting people.
Clips of the same character also appeared in "The Destinations of Doctor Who" show.
She was also in the Doctor Who audio drama "Peladon" playing Arla Decanto, and was the narrator in the audio drama "Doctor Who: New Series Adventures". Plus of course appeared as herself in an episode
of the documentary "Doctor Who Confidential".
