That's exactly why Doctor Who was cancelled in 1989. But that
doesn't mean fans should be happy to see the show they love
cancelled or put on a long hiatus...
Back then fans did not want Doctor Who to be cancelled.
Doctor Who has been dead since 2017. That's longer than between 1989 and the TV in 1996, and there was even Dimensions in Time and some Jon Pertwee radio stories in between. Today there is nothing.
Fans want cancellation and they don't want Doctor Who to ever return unless the Timeless Child monster is removed from canon. Even with that Russell T Davies hammered a steak through the Doctor's heart by making him gay and no parent will allow their child to watch this show ever again unless everything from 2017 onwards is totally erased and never mentioned ever again as being part of Doctor Who. Degenerate fan fiction and attempts to sexually groom children have no place in Doctor Who.
