Jodie's Doctor was completely unnecessary to the story though.
She was just another season finale gimmick. (Another egg in the
pudding.)

She wasn?t completely unnecessary. The Doctor needed someone
there so that he could explain that he was going to use his
regeneration energy to fix the universe. But not a companion who
would just ask sensible questions about how and why he
can fix it like that and why has he never done anything like
this before, etc.

Well, they didn't have a reality shift before, like that, did they?

OTOH the downside of bringing in another Doctor is that they
could each contribute a half-dose of regeneration energy so
NcutiDoc wouldn?t burn out and need to regenerate after all.

But Madam Doctor didn't do that, after all. :P

(Worse, they even reminded us that DavidDoc is still around. He
could add his energy to the mix too. The more the better.)

That was my impression too, especially since the Rani used
very similar expressions to describe them both.

The ?O? Master did it between Whittaker?s first two seasons.

Btw, did anyone mention gravity/mavity after the reality fix? Maybe
it went back to normal too?

Unfortunately not. It?s still there as yet another unresolved plot
strand, alongside Susan, the Boss, the Toymaker?s tooth, etc.
