This was posted about in another more obscure topic,
I dunno, a thread asking if it is April 1st seems quite an apt
thread for news of an under-five's version of Doctor Who being
commissioned for the cBeebies channel...
Apt, maybe, but the topic title does hide the announcement measning some people would miss it. :-)
but here is the "official topic". :-)
It's just as much of a weird idea here on the official thread!

New Doctor Who Spin-Off for Younger Viewers
-------------------------------------------
The BBC is currently looking for a production partner to
create a new Doctor Who animated series
You'd think the BBC would be more interested in sorting out the
issues with the main show...
Hollyweird (i.e. the entertainment industry), like almost every other businesses, has zero interest in their actual product and zero interest in the fans. All they care about is shovelling more money into their management pockets, and if that means dredging every concievable penny out of a franchise before throwing it into the trash, then that's what they'll do ... usually with each new show / season worse than the previous one as it drags on and on.
The US has been particularly bad at doing this for years. Just look athe numerous spin-offs of shows like "Law & Order", "CSI", etc. or "The Simpsons" being renewed for season 13million-and-one. Recently British makers have started jumping on the same bandwagon with shows like "Death in Paradise" currently having two spin-offs ("Beyond Paradise" and "Return to Paradise").
