What Doctor Who needs is to be run by someone who knows what
"Doctor Who" really is meant to be AND to stop trying to
appease the Politically Correct whiners and quota box-tickers.
Unfortunately, it's far too late and probably best to put the
show out of its misery. :-\
Mark Gatiss: "Maybe it's time for Doctor Who to have
another rest"

Even showrunner, Russell T Davies, has admitted that the
series is "on pause".

THE DOCTOR'S REST: A POEM
The TARDIS hums its weary tune,
A world of stars, a sky of moon.
But inside, a heart begins to slow,
The time has come to let it go.
The Doctor, always chasing fate,
Through endless years and worlds that wait,
A life of battles, foes to fight,
Yet none so strong as endless night.
The universe calls, but just this once,
The Doctor sighs, it's just too much.
"Let me rest, just for a while,
No more running, no more miles."
The sonic's quiet, the endless chase,
Paused in time, in this sacred space.
For though the stars may always gleam,
The Doctor needs a break from dreams.
So the TARDIS stands in stillness deep,
A quiet rest, the Doctor’s sleep.
No whirr, no hum, no call to fight,
Just endless stars, a calm soft night.
One last breath, a moment’s peace,
A silent wish for time's release.
To not return, to let it be,
The Doctor for once, is finally free.
