Not really a good fit for the role ... then again, the movie will be
the usual awful reboot / resurrection garbage that is barely
recognisable anyway. :-(

I guess we should just be thankful it isn't PC-switched to be an Asian

'Murder, She Wrote' Movie Eyes Jamie Lee Curtis
for Angela Lansbury's Iconic Role
-----------------------------------------------
Jamie Lee Curtis better bust out the doilies and contempo
casual trench coats - it seems she's headed to "Murder,
She Wrote."

Variety has confirmed that Oscar winner Curtis is in early
talks to play the iconic Jessica Fletcher, a crime writer
turned crack detective, who was at the center of the
long-running original TV series that starred Angela
Lansbury.

Universal Pictures is putting together an untitled feature
film project together around Fletcher, via producers Phil
Lord, Chris Miller and Amy Pascal (all have overall deals
on the Donna Langley-run studio lot).

Deadline first reported the news of the Curtis talks.

Even if I liked Curtis, this would be the worst casting imaginable.

I really cannot disagree here. A more obvious(heh) choice would be
someone like Helen Mirren.
I can't think of a single instance in which she played a character
created for someone else. However, she's now doing derivative shows for
Taylor Sheridan, 1923.
Ok. She did the Russell Brand 2011 remake of Arthur. Was she that
desperate for money?
