Related question: How long does it take to determine someone is on the right or wrong side of history? Trends can be reversed, and long-lasting ones eventually come to an end. Was Augustus Caesar on the right side of history? The Roman Empire lasted for centuries after him. Was Lenin? Some people who were alive during the Russian Revolution were still alive when the USSR ceased to exist.
