Following posts here, I read and enjoyed The Orb of Cairado by Katherine Addison so continued with The Goblin Emperor. The highlight was the Court Intrigue especially how to wield power with verbal and physical interaction in relationships and of course it would be impossible not to empathise with the Emperor. Brilliant. Although I was horrified by the eighteen pages of people, places, things, and gods, and the complicated often multi syllable names, I concede that they do add a certain gravitas. It was a fairytale in the sense that no elf nor goblin could be so perfectly empathetic. Apart from those minor complaints, the best read I've had recently with the fascinating character of the Emperor and fascinating sub plots.
