OK, it's not "opera", but at the very least we can say that zero-gee
makes for exuberant violin hair!
(Not sure how they are dealing with transmission delay here..)
It wasn't live. The violin solo part on the spacecraft was
recorded first, then the various orchestras played to that.
The violin had to be heated in a vacuum chamber before the
flight, to ensure that no volatiles would come off during the
spacewalk, and get redeposited in bad locations. The segment
was also recorded prior to the spacewalks, in case the the
vacuum damaged the instrument.
