Here I am again with one non-political screed of notes,
"The Shambling Guide to New York City" by Mur Lafferty.
from
www.obitbooks.net Zoe the heroine of the this piece has come to New York City
to find a new job in publishing. She left her last employment
writing travel books because her boss failed to tell her he was
married to a police officer who made her life hell.
First she finds a book store and tries to buy a book then
she finds a certain bakery and begins to learn about the
"coterie" which is a name the vampires, zombies, death goddesses, succubi and inccubi, et al have given to their community.
Then she goes to work with a very special publishing company
and the name of their big project will be "the Shambling Guide
to New York City."
It is a rough position because she is either food or a source
of food to her coworkers and to the individuals
to whom they will market the work.
This is the first of a series.
If I am not clear this is a very amusing book and I hope
Mur has more in store.
It would make a great manga or anime. I got my copy at the SFPL Main but it is $15.00 US or $17.00 Canadian.
