I have to wonder what Thomas G. Aylesworth, author of the excellent 1972
book "Monsters from the Movies" thought of "Young Frankenstein."
(For some reason, he referred to "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein"
as the bottom of the barrel.)
In the meantime, sad to say, Teri Garr did NOT have an entry in "The
Illustrated Who's Who of the Cinema"!
How COULD they omit her? Aside from the Elvis movies, "Star Trek,"
"M*A*S*H," "The Sonny & Cher Show," and "McCloud," by the time the book
was published, she'd already been in "The Conversation," "Young
Frankenstein," "Oh, God!" "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "The
Black Stallion," and..."Tootsie"!
In the meantime, I wanted to mention that her episode of "Star Trek"
("Assignment: Earth") is one of my favorites. Yes, her presence is one
reason, but my main reason is that the leading male character, Gary
Seven, despite being an "ordinary" human with no rank in the
Federation, knew better than Captain Kirk what needed to be done at any
given time. That was rare.
(I liked his bond with the cat, too.)
