I managed to get through one Hemingway novel, and halfway through
another. I have not read anything by him since. I can't even remember
their titles.

Agreed.
I have a book called "The Essential Hemingway" whch has some of his
novellas and short stories, which I enjoyed.
His longer books, however, I found boring. I think the only one I
finished was "The Old Man and the Sea", and found that boring, and
full of misleading stuff about marine biology too.
