There you go. I think you just explained it yourself. If you dig deep enough in crisis countries surely you will find a socialist or two.

Leaders screwing the people is a pretty common problem, and it's why
representative democracy is such a good thing.  It's not sufficient to
prevent that, but it's necessary.

Leaders screwing the people is exactly what socialism and authoritarianism is about. The only antidote to that is capitalism and the abolishing of the public sector.
If not, the public sector grows like a cancer, and when it does, the politicians soon become dictators and take over. Socialism turning the people into slaves like it has always done.
This is a scientific fact.
