Are address harvesters still trawling through newgroups? Given the
amount of Usenet traffic these days, it would be hardly worth the
effort. I no longer try to hide my e-mail address, because junk mailers
harvested it decades ago.
When I look at my server logs, I see little evidence of attempts to
gather usernames. The pests are more focused on trying to guess
passwords. They are particularly interested in collecting passwords for
username "root". Since Richard's username is not "root", he's fairly safe.
