Hi denizens and habitues,
"The Vampire of Kings Street"
Well "The Vampire of Kings Street" by Asha Greyling
is not the villain though the police think he did it. Fortunately
for him believing he is to be killed he engages an attorney
to write his will. She is Radhika Dingra, an American of
Indian ancestry and in the world of this story living in a
New York far different than ours but she is an attorney in a
world where she is not respected except as a source of income
and she does not have much.
Evelyn Wood is the name of the Vampire and he is
an idealist turned against his will by an evil English
Lord from the age of the Vampire Wars in which the
Vampires were defeated. Wood is a warden to the
family of Frost who removed to America quite early and
are very well off and respected as elite. The head of the
family adopted Wood and he has been with them for
centuries. Other vampires occupy similar positions
with the elite members of society.
The clues all point to Evelyn as the killer of
a former protege and try as she might Radhika
can find no mitigation of the clues but finally
in the denouement the murderer is revealed.
I enjoyed this very much. It is in hard cover
for nearly $30.00 which made me glad I have
a library card. 260 pages including acknowledgments.
