What could possibly go wrong with a little harmless Satanism between friends?

The only thing I recall about this book is that in it he used one item noted in his commonplace book, sections of which he published in a Roger Mills collection circa 1960.
I didn't know about the alcohol dependence. An autobiographical essay written in the early 1980s gives no sign of this, either in the text or style of writing. It sounds much like interviews with Bester from earlier decades.
