What did you watch?
Hey, thanks for asking!
THE LOST WORLD JURASSIC PARK
I’d only ever watched this once. I hated the book which attempted to be a
sequel to both the original wonderful book and the original not wonderful
movie which made all sorts of stupid changes so people that died are alive
again. It’s been four years and suddenly somewhere along the line, Malcolm
has picked up a 12-year-old black daughter and whoever her mother is she’s
not in his life. Anyway, they go back and have a very run-of-the-mill
adventure with lots of big stupid written and (second unit) directed by one
of the worst people working in Hollywood, even John Williams music is one
of his poorest efforts.
Toby Ziegler gets eaten by a T-Rex!
The father of the little girl who gets attacked at the beginning is played
by Ethan Rayne of BUFFY and IMDb says the actor died young. :-(
Please use the actor's, and not just the character's name - it's Robin Sachs.
IMDb also says the little girl grew up beautiful.
That's Camilla Belle. She's famous in her own right. She definitely was beautiful, but like with Emmanuelle Chriqui and Jordana Brewster, that's less true now.
The incredibly protracted sequence with the RV hanging off the cliff is one
of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen.
It never occurs to anybody that the fact that Julianne Nicholson
You mean Julianne Moore - Julianne Nicholson is the one who is currently starring in "Paradise", and she was not in "Lost World" (or any JP film that I am aware of).
is covered
with baby T-Rex blood (not to mention why since it had a broken leg not a
gaping wound) is probably bad if you’re trying not to have the adult T-Rex
track you.
Later, Malcolm tells us
Jeff Goldblum is never wrong!! :p
that the T-Rex can only track the baby T-Rex by
sound. That seems like it would be easy enough to take care of. How does
the adult even know the baby is in Sandy Eggo at all?
So the T-Rex rides the ship to Sandy Eggo. Malcolm and party go there in a
helicopter. Despite the helicopter being 10 times faster than the ship they
seem to get there at the same time.
On board the ship, the T-Rex gets out of the hold somehow and eats
everybody, leaving lots of disembodied hands behind. Somehow it got into
the wheelhouse and ate everybody except for their hands, and then managed
to trap itself in the hold again, while the disembodied hand closed the lid
over it and held it shut. Another disembodied hand works the steering
wheel and navigates from Costa Rica to Sandy Eggo, but there isn’t yet
another disembodied hand on the throttle.
Somehow, inGen has built a giant Jurassic Park facility in the middle of
San Diego complete with signage and nobody noticed.
The big game hunter waves his fee in order to kill an adult male
Tyrannosaurus rex. What makes him think there’s a tyrannosaurus running
loose on the island? If there is what makes him think it’s a male? Why
would there be a male dinosaur on the island when the dinosaurs are all
female?
Just every moment is another layer of rancid onion burning away.
Yes. I barely like any part of the first JP film, and recall hating both (original) sequels with a passion. The later sequels are little better.
I also watched some more episodes of DREW CAREY.
Meanwhile, my dad‘s old beloved recliner broke. It looks like I may have to
move into a room with a television.
I've been needing to get a recliner for years. But it's a logistical problem on several levels so I've never bothered yet.
