In case anyone's wondering about the result of the Ontario election that was held today, Doug Ford's Progressive Conservatives have won a strong majority again, making this his 3rd consecutive mandate.
Ford called the election over a year early, ostensibly to have a strong mandate to deal with Trump's tariffs but probably also to prevent new (provincial) Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie from gaining any momentum. (It appears that Crombie failed to win a seat meaning the Liberals may need to find another new leader.)
Ford actually lost a few seats compared to the last election but still has approximately twice as many seats as the remaining parties put together.
Of course the election that will be far more important to Canada's future will be the next federal election. The new leader of the federal Liberal Party will be chosen on March 9 and the rumour mill suggests that the next federal election will follow in very short order so that the Liberals can take advantage of the momentum they've gained by ousting Trudeau and being in the news due to the leadership race.
I can only hope my fellow Canadians sober up in the coming weeks and realize that the Liberal Party under a new leader will be every bit as bad as the Liberal Party under Trudeau - and very possible worse - because it's essentially the same clown posse with the same horrific ideas.
