I found this video another compelling example for why police body cams are a great idea.
A woman stopped on the highway for speeding will not produce her insurance despite the officer asking for it repeatedly and very politely. She gets increasingly rude to him and finally starts to phone 911 to get a different officer!

The motorcycle cop that stopped her warns her that calling 911 in this situation will be an abuse of the 911 system and she will get charged for it but she calls anyway. Another cop stops by, apparently as a result of something he heard over the radio, and he sees all the subsequent events, which include her trying to drive away. A supervisor had been requested and when she told her story to him, it was a continuous body of lies.
The supervisor believed the officers without actually looking at the body cams but they would have backed up the officers entirely. She had three charges levied against her and pled nolo contendre to all of them.
The supervisor might have made very different decisions if he'd had any doubts about the officers or she'd been a bit more persuasive so those body cams were a great verification of the officers' recollections and would have been excellent proof if he'd needed any or if the case had gone to trial.
