Robert MacNeil Dies: Longtime PBS MacNeil/Lehrer Report Co-Anchor
Was 93

I remember his excellent documentary series, The Story of English,
which described the origins and evolution of English all the way
from its earliest roots through to the present.

Fun fact: MacNeil was born and raised in Canada, Nova Scotia to be
more specific.

From NewsHour, he grew up in Halifax but was born in Montreal. He
became an American citizen late in life, shortly after retiring from
news broadcasting on air. (He and Lehrer retained ownership of the
program so they could produce, but sold it to WETA in 2014.)

I stand corrected. I remember him mentioning Nova Scotia roots during
The Story of English but did not know he was actually born in Montreal.
