 I think his real problem was he probably didn't sleep much before the
night before the trial started. I have to imagine he was quite nervous
that night, as most people would be.
 

That's possible, but he does drink about 12 diet cokes a day, and also takes a lot of pseudephedrine, which can lead to insomnia after long term use. The thinking is that he's ADHD and selfmedicates.
