They gave her a letter with something like three infractions, including
that, that she had to fix or lose her job. She sent a return letter saying
she wouldn't, the big one seems to be that she was proselytizing to her
classes, and she said as a Christian, she couldn't stop that (I don't know
what kind of Christian denomination requires that).
They told her the accommodations she was asking violated California law.
She refused to comply. They fired her.  It's unclear to me if they
specified the exact cause of the firing.

The New Testament says Christians need to be 'always be ready to make
a defence for your hope' the point being that you're expected to be
ready to discuss your faith but not to initiate that discussion.

Most people don't find keeping it in in public a challenge....

Ok. Nevertheless there are Protestants who "spread the Good News",
prosyletizing. The fired teacher was such a person. The pronoun issue is
compelled speech, an abridgement of the teacher's freedom of speech. But
the prosyletizing issue is a conflict between the teacher's free
exercise of religion and the student's free exercise of religion. The
student shall be free from being told by a teacher, a representative of
the State, how to worship.
