In the same vein, I saw one video that referred to the crash that
killed the Iranians as a "tragedy". To the people in the
helicopter and their families, probably, but not to many others.
 
I wonder if Harry Truman issued condolences when Hitler died? I
can't remember any such thing happening....

Castro tried to start WWIII. Other than that, I'm sure he was a great
guy.

He made people listen to his speeches in the huge national stadium,
which I believe holds 100,000 people, despite the fact that they often
ran 8 hours or more. They were timed to start after the day's work and
the audience then had to go to work the next day. If you've ever watched
even a short fragment of one of his speeches like I have, then
projected it out for 8+ hours sitting/standing in the blazing Cuban
sun, I think you'd agree that it was cruel and unusual punishment.

Of course the stadium didn't accommodate all of the Cubans so the rest
were expected to watch on TV. Compliance was enforced by the local
busybodies. (Yes, there was an actual government organization of people
that monitored people's behavior in apartment buildings, which is where
the vast majority of Cubans live. I'm not sure how viewing was
enforced for the lucky few that had private homes.)

Castro was NOT a great guy.
