Alec Baldwin motion to dismiss manslaughter indictment overruled

Alec Baldwin made a motion to dismiss the one remaining count against
him -- involuntary manslaughter in the murder of Halyna Hutchins the
cinematographer during production of Rust in 2021. The motion was overruled.

He argued that prosecutors flouted rules of grand jury proceedings by
diverting attention away from exculpatory evidence. The argument did not
pursuade the judge. The prosecutor is not required to present
exculpatory evidence, nor is the grand jury required to consider it once
it becomes aware of it.
