Shortly after Rachel Levine was named Woman of the Year by USA Today in
2022, that got the Babylon Bee's juices going. Writer Joel Berry named
Levine "man of the year" in a satirical article.

Twitter didn't think it was funny and banned the Babylon Bee. They
offered not to do so if the Bee would take the joke down and check a box
admitting that they'd committed an act of hate speech. I have no idea if
Twitter also demanded serving a sentence in re-education camp. Obviously
they refused.

Elon Musk was a fan of the Bee and noticed their absence upon returning
from a foreign trip, then tracked them down to find out what happened.

Shortly thereafter, Musk initiated steps that led to his purchase of
Twitter, and one of his very first orders was unbanning the Bee.
