This is the article.
The Racial Bias Built Into Photography
Sarah Lewis explores the relationship between racism and the camera.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/25/lens/sarah-lewis-racial-bias-photography.htmlI was trying to set up a video recording Monday. The speaker was a white
woman with very pale skin. I completely screwed up the lighting.
I don't like the way Sarah Lewis phrased everything and how she took it
like a personal insult. But the underlying problem statement, that there
is a problem to solve with proper lighting of darker skin tones if one
is familiar only with lighting women with lighter skin tones, is real.
But there have long been ways to solve the problem and you work at it
till you learn the technique.
She lost an opportunity to teach the lighting technician. "Let's work
together till you learn to light my skin properly."

Uh, no. That one's about an embittered woman who made herself undatable,
so she's resentful and alone. Not gonna look for that article.
