The series returns with the start of its eight-episode second season (running through August 4). Gone is co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik (the other showrunner, Ryan Condal, remains), but joining the producers is GoT veteran Alan Taylor, who also directs multiple episodes this season. Those producers have promised that season 2 will be free from major time jumps as it traces the buildup to war between the Hightowers and Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen's "Blacks." Already renewed for season 3.
