It's always amusing to me how Democrats suddenly become hardcore libertarians
on this one issue. But just this one issue.
Why aren't you shocked that the Republican Party, which was the party in
tune with modernizing American society in the early '70s, especially
women's lib, backed away from this issue, and so much else they used to
be libertarians on?
The opinions in the entire line of sexual privacy cases were written by
Republkcans on the Court.
In every other respect they don't
recognize any aspect of life too minute that it should be free of government
restriction, oversight, and/or regulation. But abortion? They suddenly start
doing the ideological equivalent of putting sovereign citizen license plates
on their cars and holing up in a militia compounds in the woods.
