This was a plot of one of the segments of a recent episode of Blue
Bloods!

This time it turns out that the mayor was asked not to attend by the
family.
Well, then the headline is misleading because the mayor isn't skipping the
funeral. He's not attending at the family's request. There's a difference.
Just more evidence of how garbage media has become.
And it's even worse in this case because they made me defend that ridiculous
Chicago mayor.
Umm... the "garbage media" (Chicago Tribune) headlines:
Mayor Brandon Johnson to skip slain officer’s funeral after all
------------------------------------------------------------------
Mayor Brandon Johnson reversed course Saturday and announced he will not attend a slain cop’s funeral after the officer's family told him to stay away.
