Interior Chinatown        [new; complete season 1]         (12:01 am, Hulu)
Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley) stars as Willis Wu, an actor playing an
unnamed background character on a police procedural who stumbles into a
larger real-life story involving a criminal conspiracy in Chinatown and
his family's secret history, in an adaptation of the acclaimed
best-seller of the same name by Charles Yu. Adapted by Yu himself (the
author has extensive TV experience including writing for Lodge 49 and
Westworld), the drama also stars Ronny Chieng, Chloe Bennet, and Lisa
Gilroy. All 10 episodes stream today.
I will sample this for Chloe Bennet

Adam Ray Is Dr. Phil UNLEASHED      (comedy special)        (3:01 am, Netflix)
Comedian Adam Ray transforms into Dr. Phil for this one-of-a-kind comedy
show featuring celebrity guests, crowdwork and outrageous hijinks.
I will give this a try.

Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked       (special)          (10-11 pm, NBC)
A behind-the-scenes look at the highly-anticipated two-part film
adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, featuring interviews with the cast and crew.
 No Ron Livingston, no show?
I do admire them for promoting porn sites, though:

Adoration [Adorazione]        [new; complete limited series]        (3:01 am, Netflix)
In a small town near Rome, Elena, a teenage girl disappears. Who is she?
What happened to her? This is the story of the two faces of adoration -
one striving for dedication; and the other for possession. And how it is
sometimes hard to recognize the right one. Italian series; 6 episodes.
 Maybe.

Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy     (documentary)        (3:01 am, Netflix)
Pulls back the curtain on the world’s top brands, exposing the hidden
tactics and covert strategies used to keep all of us locked in an endless
cycle of buyingno matter the cost. 1h 24m.
I saw a study on increased labor/transportation/etc.. costs and around 50%
of the "inflation" over the last 4 years has just been about increased
corporate profits rather than any actual inflation.

The Merry Gentlemen         (movie)          (3:01 am, Netflix)
To save her parents’ small-town performing venue, a former big-city dancer
decides to stage an all-male, Christmas-themed revue--and meets a guy
with all the right moves. Stars Britt Robertson, Chad Michael Murray, and Marla Sokoloff.
Is this a spinoff of HOT FROSTY?

Our Oceans           [new; complete limited series]          (3:01 am, Netflix)
A thrilling five-episode series, narrated by Barack Obama, that invites
you to join Emmy-winning wildlife filmmaker James Honeyborne on an
awe-inspiring adventure. This groundbreaking show will whisk you away on
a global journey, uncovering the mesmerizing stories of our planet's five
majestic oceans. Each episode delves into the unique characters of the
creatures within these ecosystems, from playful and cunning to resilient
and mysterious. Ride along the world's great current as we reveal
nature's most spectacular aquatic personalities and breathtaking wonders.
Sounds like a PBS show.  I wonder if they can do some last minute edits to
include the Emperor penguin that showed up in Australia?

Cruel Intentions        [new; complete season 1]          (12:01 am, Prime Video)
Amazon's series adaptation of the 1999 film of the same name—which in turn
was yet another adaptation of the 18th century novel Les Liaisons
Dangereuses—is set at an elite Washington D.C.-area college in the
present day where two "ruthless step-siblings" battle for power in the
"cutthroat social hierarchy" of the Greek system. Sean Patrick Thomas
returns from the original film—as a different character—alongside Sarah
Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess, Savannah Lee Smith, and more. All eight
episodes stream today.
 I will sample this.

Alien: Romulus       (movie; streaming premiere)          (12:01 am, Hulu)
While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of
young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life
form in the universe. 1h 59m.
I will watch this since I skipped going to the theater for it.

A Man on the Inside        [new; complete season 1]          (3:01 am, Netflix)
Mike Schur reunites with his The Good Place star Ted Danson for a new
series adapted from the Oscar-nominated 2020 documentary The Mole Agent.
The San Francisco-set caper borrows that film's basic premise (though not
many of the details): A family, concerned about the treatment of their
mother in a nursing home, hires a private investigator, who in turn
recruits an elderly man (played here by Danson) to serve as an undercover
spy in the facility. In this case, Danson's Charles is a widower and
retired professor who attempts to unravel the mystery of a stolen family
heirloom and finds an unexpected new chapter in his life in the process.
Stephanie Beatriz, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Sally Struthers, Lilah Richcreek
Estrada, and Susan Ruttan also star. All eight episodes stream today.
 I will definitely sample this.

Maybe Baby 2 [Bytte Bytte Barn]      (movie)         (3:01 am, Netflix)
When two couples learn that the fertility clinic didn't swap their eggs
after all, they resolve to move in together and raise their kids
collectively. Danish film; 1h 45m. Sequel to 2023's "Maybe Baby."
I watched the first one, so I will probably watch this.

Human vs. Hamster        [new; complete season 1]           (3:01 am, Max)
Reality competition; 8 episodes. This is actually not from The Onion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gABQeNeZQ9w
I would expect the humans to win simply because they are the only ones that
know that they are in a competition.

The Great American Baking Show Celebrity Holiday       (complete season 3)
        (3:01 am, The Roku Channel)
Celebs Anthony Anderson, Rob Riggle, Vanessa Bayer, Loni Love, and Susie
Essman compete in holiday baking challenges to impress Paul Hollywood &
Prue Leith and win “star baker”or even a handshake. One episode.
I will give this a try, though the Roku celebrity editions of this show
have been mediocre.

Nugget Is Dead? A Christmas Story        (movie)         (8-10 pm, CBS)
When her beloved family dog, Nugget, falls sick over Christmas, Steph
Stool must abandon her very elegant holiday plans with her boyfriend’s
family, and return instead to her small Australian coastal hometown to
confront the chaos of her own…less elegant family. In the week leading up
to Christmas, each member of the Stool family must grapple with the
mortality of the one thing that unifies them. Australian film;
So, Australia does the stupid Christmas movie season as well...with the
comedy centered around the family name of "Stool".

Stool? You're shitting me, right? (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

The Empress       (complete season 2)        (3:01 am, Netflix)
When rebellious Elisabeth falls for Emperor Franz and becomes his unlikely
bride, she enters a world of tension and intrigue at the Viennese court.
German series; six episodes? Season 1 streamed in September 2022.
Season 2: Elisabeth fights for the future of the empireand for her ownin
the face of political crises and age-old traditions.
 I'm looking forward to this.

The Helicopter Heist         [new; complete limited series]            (3:01 am, Netflix)
In 2009, a helicopter lands on the roof of Sweden's safest cash depot and
the police can only watch as the robbers disappear along with several
million kronor. Not a single shot is fired. Based on true events, The
Helicopter Heist tells the story of the meticulous planning and secret
drama behind one of the most daring crimes in history. Swedish series; 8 episodes.
I will give this a try.

Joy        (movie)         (3:01 am, Netflix)
Three British pioneers, one vision. An inspiring drama based on a true
story, following the emotional journey of the birth of IVF in England in
1978. Thomasin McKenzie, James Norton and Bill Nighy star. British film; 1h 55m.
I will give this a try as well.

The Piano Lesson      (movie)         (3:01 am, Netflix)
In 1936 Pittsburgh, a family clash over an heirloom piano explodes. The
battle between brother (John David Washington) and sister (Danielle
Deadwyler)--one hopes to sell it, the other refuses to give it
up--unleashes haunting truths about how the past is perceived and who
defines a family legacy. Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Fisher, Michael Potts,
Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Jerrika Hinton, Gail Bean, and Corey
Hawkins also star in Malcolm Washington’s directorial debut based on the
Pulitzer prize-winning August Wilson 1987 play (previously adapted for TV
in 1995). Denzel Washington produces; 2h 5m.
 Maybe.

Out of My Mind       (movie)        (3:01 am, Disney+)
Melody Brooks [Phoebe-Rae Taylor], a sixth grader with cerebral palsy, has
a quick wit and a sharp mind, but because she is non-verbal and uses a
wheelchair, she is not given the same opportunities as her classmates.
When a young educator notices her student’s untapped potential and Melody
starts to participate in mainstream education, Melody shows that what she
has to say is more important than how she says it. A Disney Original
movie based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Sharon M.
Draper. 1h 42m. Also stars Jennifer Aniston [as "Melody's inner voice"],
Rosemarie DeWitt and Judith Light.
Maybe if I'm in the mood for extreme sappiness.
Overall, this looks like a week with more options than we have seen in a
long time.
